Licenses and provenance
The website combines several distinct kinds of material, each under its own license. This page records what is published here, where it came from, and the terms that apply. Not all site content is GPL - licenses are per-asset.
Website code and text

The website source and editorial text are distributed under the
GNU General Public License version 2. The repository includes the licensing notice in
LICENSE.md.
The TORCS software
- TORCS, The Open Racing Car Simulator, is distributed under the GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2). This website does not redistribute the simulator itself; it links to official releases on SourceForge.
Gameplay screenshots
- Published gameplay screenshots were captured by Bernhard Wymann from TORCS 1.3.9 and are distributed under the Free Art License. Underlying TORCS artwork retains its per-asset license terms.

media/screenshots/manifest.jsonrecords the source capture, version, credit, required notice, dimensions, formats and SHA-256 checksums for every published derivative.
TORCS logo and website branding
- The website logo is a refined vector trace of the original TORCS project raster artwork from 1998. The compact wheel favicon is an adaptation of the logo's wheel motif.

assets/branding-manifest.jsonrecords the approved source image, attribution, license, transformations and SHA-256 checksums for the published branding files.
Track map imagery
Every top-down track map on the Tracks page was imported from a pinned TORCS source revision. Each carries an affirmative license status and full provenance recorded in the asset manifest shipped with the site:

media/tracks/manifest.jsonlists, per track: author, license, required notice, source revision, source path, and SHA-256 checksums of both the source file and the published copy. - The majority of maps are distributed under the Free Art License; a minority (for example Corkscrew) under GPLv2. The per-track entry in the manifest is authoritative.
Car models, renders and technical data
- The twelve cars on the Cars page are native TORCS cars distributed under GPL-2.0-or-later and/or GFDL-1.2-or-later. Their responsive studio images are derivatives of the corresponding TORCS models, wheels and canonical textures.

Research and use references
- The Research and Uses pages link out to publications, organizations and practitioners; they do not reproduce copyrighted article text or host PDFs. Inclusion documents TORCS use only and implies no endorsement.
